Therapy

Speech and language therapy provides treatment and support for children and adults who have difficulties with communication, or in other areas such as eating, drinking or swallowing. There are many types of interventions and we have experience in a variety of settings.

Therapy Interventions may include:

  • 1:1 sessions

  • Paired or group therapy if appropriate

  • A home programme with suggested fun activities to be practised between visits

  • A nursery or school programme with suggested activities/strategies to be used in the classroom and support with Individual Education Plan (IEP) targets if appropriate.

All services will be tailored specifically to individual needs and will focus on structured activities and play, which will help the child learn new skills.

For therapy to be most effective, we encourage parents or staff to observe therapy sessions if possible so that the activities we cover can be transferred and used at home and in the education environment for further reinforcement.
